Merrit Beardsley was born February 1857 and died at the age of eight in December 1865. Legend says the boy was afraid of being buried in the dark. His parents built him a tomb with a glass window to catch the sunlight.

This field guide includes extensive research on Merrit's tomb and the Beardsley Cemetery. Stefan Foster found the tomb in a state of disrepair. It was vandalized and desecrated in 1970. Foster worked for over a decade to repair the tomb and several stones in the cemetery.

The printed publication is 8.5x11" landscape, softcover, in partial color. The images provided are previews only and may appear different in the printed publication. The book is 44 pages with an appendix section and additional field notes.

Foster continues to maintain the cemetery today. Little Merrit's Tomb and the Beardsley Cemetery are located off Hoben Road in the Town of Oxford, New York.
