Babe
Babe
A photo publication written in Blissymbolics.
Dedicated to Dorabelle May Ulrich who died Tuesday.
Dorabelle was a living wildflower — colorful with perennial wisdom. Almost a decade ago, I was driving through Western New York and found a small abandoned house collapsing in sumac trees and tiger lilies.
I went in the house where all of the floor joists had fallen. I wiped dust away from a collection of negatives. Then I could see a girl sitting in a wheelchair.
The neighbor told me he used to call the girl by an endearing name — Babe — although her true name was Dorabelle. She sold flowers by the roadside with her mother.
This is a preorder for the upcoming publication to be distributed September 2024
